I prefer working with natural light. Photographing nature is what moves me in this physical world. When I capture a particular scene my mind isn’t necessarily seeing what is in the view finder. Sometimes my minds eye sees an aspect of what’s in the view finder and I am left to translate that vision into a final product.

The true challenge in nature photography is the hunt. The hiking, canoeing, and hours of trekking in the elements to find the shot. The shot won’t be someplace easily accessible. The scene will be something I am led to. Unless I marked the coordinates I may never find it again. But I certainly will capture the moment to share it.

I have found myself increasingly influenced by the works of the Group of Seven. In the future that influence will likely be translated into my photography. The methodology is yet to be discovered, but the journey will be enlightening.
